Basic Clothing requirements:
- Helmet - *Mandatory* must be in safe condition, must be for biking. See a bike store if any questions
- Shoes - stiff sole, trail running shoes ok, biking shoes ideal
- Shirt/Jersey - polypro or some type of wicking fabric, best to not use cotton T-shirts
- Cycling shorts - chammy, no seams
- Jacket - light windbreaker, needs to provide some rain protection
- Gloves - protection for palm, warmth
- Glasses - Ace Hardware/Home Depot sell safety glasses for $6-8 that offer UV protection and stop flying rocks
- Water supply - either Camelbak or bottles with bike mounts or a fanny/backpack
- Camelbak or backpack or fanny pack
Minimal Toolkit:
- Spare Tube -
- Patch Kit - Copelands has one for $2.50
- Tire Levers - 2 of these little plastic levers help get the tire off the rim
- Pump - worth getting something decent
- Hex keys - usually 2 or 3 keys is all you need for any on-the-trail repairs
- Spare GU/Clif-bar/Chocolate - something with concentrated calories to restore energy
Have at least 1 amongst group:
Nice to Haves:
- Clip-in/Clip-less pedals, the type for shoes with cleats - makes your pedaling significantly more efficient
- Sports Drinks like Gatorade etc.
- Biking Socks
- Towel to dry off at the car on wet days.
